But if you're removing the heads for a cam swap, you're creating a LOT of extra work...

The intake didnt even need to come off, all you should have done for cam only is take all the stuff off the front of the engine, not the top with the exception of pulling the valve covers to get the pushrods out but that quick and simple.
If you are only doing a cam you just created a whole **** load of extra work and parts buying for yourself. If you pull the heads you will need new head gaskets, head bolts, and you might as well put some nice new lifters in too.

im taking the heads off to clean them up a little bit and do some port and polish work on them..the intake is gettin replaced with a bbk ssi intake also .basically im doin a complet top end ,lifters ,pushrods, springs, cam etc just goin to refreshen the whole top end .im i also took the headers off to clean them up some had some surface rust on them so i figured why not

We took the headers down so we could access the 5 head bolts that are impossible to get to if they were left on. Heads are coming off to change lifters, change springs and maybe do a little work to them. Can't change lifters or springs with the heads on the car
