Default Rookie new motor question

I have a 408 that was built by a well known supplier. When tightening the balancer bolt I noticed that as the motor turns it has what feels like a slight bind in the same spot as I go around. I listened close and all I could hear was the rings scraping on the cylinder walls. I did get a little rough tapping on the super dampener till I could get the threads to catch on the bolt. Do I need to take the pan back off to inspect everything or is this normal? Ken

Are the plugs in or out? Its most likely the compression stroke. Balancers dont go on with a hammer either.

Plugs out. Yea I was real stupid. I turned it over a bunch and it gradually loosened up-I think OK for now.

It's probably the compression stroke. Good eye/ear tho. Better safe then sorry
