Default Broken Titanium Retainer AND Double Springs??

Long Story Short:
Pulled valve cover to find #7 intake Crane Gold Race 1.8 rocker sitting at 45*, off the pushrod and valve. The hold down nut was not on the screw-in stud.

The bottom of the keeper cup in the Ferrea Titanium retainer was gone, as if the keepers had pulled through the retainer.

Both keepers were still in the head below the #3 valves.

BOTH THE INNER AND OUTER Ferrea springs were each broken into three pieces!

Seal was anihilated, Rev Stainless race valve bent, pushrod OK. I haven't pulled the head yet....

I can't imagine the Ti retainer failing like it did if this were simply an issue of the rocker nut coming off! I feel that vibrated loose after the rocker no longer had any spring tension to hold... wait a minute...

The set screw/jam screw SHOULD hold the nut on the stud regardless of whether any valve spring tension exists at all, right??

What a trip! Quality dual springs both in three pieces, Ti retainer trashed, and surely much more when I pull the head, all because I let a rocker retainer come loose...

I'm going to bed.

Good luck with this, please provide your findings. How did you tighten them?
