There have been a lot of guys here as well, sounds like Comp switched to a different vendor. I would gladly pay and extra $20 (or whatever the cost increase was that forced them to a different vendor) to have a good reliable spring, wish the vendors would realize that.

wow, please let me know which batch was crap, I am going to the dyno on friday to have it tuned and am pushing the limits of the springs already with my cam, don't wanna have major problems on the dyno. Also does anyone know how far I should let the shop push my car as far as RPM with those springs and my 233/239? I'm sure it makes power pretty high in the band but I want a reliable car and will probably NEVER push it as high up as the shop will, I am thinking 6400 max to tell them to quit?

I have a set of patriot dual springs going in towards the ends of the summer with the new heads, I just need to make it to then with a ton of daily driving and a few trips to the track.....keeping my fingers crossed....

Last week I saw two trucks with broken 918s, One of them had a 220/220 112lsa that one dropped a valve and made a hole in the piston and the other one was a friends truck that we were changing the heads and saw the broken spring but the valve stayed in place. This makes me worry I also have 918s.

The link worked this morning. Has the thread been deleted?
I had a spring break just as shown in the pictures that WERE in the link above. Comp agreed that it was a faulty spring and replaced the set. Didn't help out my destroyed block, piston, and head though.

I ran the 918's for 10k mile's with .587/.589 lift and did not follow the first heat cycle procedure and had zero probs. spun her to 6800 a thousand time's.
but on a side note i was always worried about them.
dual afr's now.on the afr heads. i would say worries over but i know what that will get me.

also i heard this is a old prob . they had a batch a while ago. even the cam section here talks about it. i would not be too concerned. at a last resort call comps tech line and ask them.
But just be ready for the guy to be a ***. i called them about the comp r lifters and the guy was a total *****. saying it was the consumers fault.
I mean a .002-.004 preload on a hyd lifter. give me a break. a standard peice of paper is right around .003.
just a heads up if you call comp. you may hang up pissed off.
