Default Cam shopping need help!

I'm looking to purchase a cam this week I was leaning toward a MS4 but my TA is a DD and alot of people have said that a MS4 is too much for a DD. Is there anything out there that has the power of a MS4 but is streetable for a DD? I need answers fast please because I want to get it installed by this friday.

In a short answer, no. IF you get a smaller cam it will most likely make less "power", up top at least. It will make less up top, but it will make more down low and will be more drivable. In my opinion you need to find out what is drivable to you and then pick a cam based on that, instead of having a certain hp #. Set the car up right the way that you want it and the numbers will work themselves out.

Many people DD the MS4, you need to slow down and find some local LS1s with cams and go for a ride and base your decision off of that.

what other mods do you have? if you are going to run that cam as a DD, you will either need a good stall to go with it, or some 4.10 gears to help it get moving. its personal choice as to whats drivable and not. id get a decent mid size cam, and save for some heads next year to make up the lost power. dont forget about the valve train up grades, tune, gaskets, etc.

If you go with the MS4 you're gonna need more than just the cam.. you're gonna need valve springs, etc... and most importantly a tune. Don't rush into doing a cam swap; do it right the first time. Take some time and search around a bit, then make your decision.

JameSS brings up another good point, if you have an A4 then you're gonna have to get a torque converter and you'd prolly want a tranny cooler.. and if you have a M6 you'll prolly wanna invest in a aftermarket clutch.. There's a lot of moving parts. Good luck!
