Default OK damnit... need some input....

alright.. .im officially sick and tired of this and feel like venting and seeing if i can find some input from you guys..

i have some heavily hogged out LS6 heads.... and my rocker stud bolt holes go down into the ports...

HOW IN THE ROYAL HELL are you guys getting them sealed?? i have tried everything known to man.... high temp RTV, red lock tite, blue lock tite, a combination of red RTV and blue lock tite... they just magically keep on leaking and im sick of having oild on my intake ports from it...

anybody have any ideas???

Are you sure it's not coming from somewhere else?

Permatex thread sealant on most of the bolts threads to keep oil out and red locktite on the top threads to keep the bolt locked.

IIRC you run a breather setup right?

You can use Indian Head Block Sealer...I've used it twice now and worked great both times...

Picked mine up at NAPA...

there is nowhere else the oild could come from, valve guides were in impecable shape, valve seals are brand new, and im running a breather and no PCV system.. it has to be coming from the rocker bolts.

will teflon tape hold up to the heat and such from the engine? seems like the RTV / blue locktite held up good for a while but when i swapped my fast manifold on there was oil in my intake runners again.

btw, compression on motor is 210-220 on all cylinders, its not the rings

Lost, I know what you're going through...I was in the same boat before I tried the Indian Head Block Sealer...

I encourage you to give it a shot. You wouldn't think that much oil would come through those holes, but it will.

Hope that works for you.

A lot of oil can come through the rocker bolt holes if they arent sealed.

k dude... so i went into napa and all the guy had was "indian head gasket shellac compound" in a little brown bottle and looks like freakin molassas... i read the back and it says its made for gasket surfaces and also used to seal threaded assemblies from petroleum/heat/steam/and antifreeze.

is this the right stuff???

Engine oil is petroleum, and the rocker bolts are threaded assemblies. Thats the stuff.

so now the new question... is it worth it to cut the bolts shorter so they arent going into the port on the heads?? is there anything i can fill up the bolt hole with so that air doesnt catch in it??

Yeah this is common. Just cut the bolt and dont jack the threads up, then fill the hole in the runner with epoxy. Oil dripping issue solved forever.
