Default Ported Oil Pump Question? ? ?

I am doing a H/C job coming up soon and already ordered a ported oil pump. While changing the timing set, is the changing of an oil pump that hard? Has anyone done a write-up of this as well? thanks for the input/advice, I am really going to need it and appreciate all of it.

Swapping out the pump is as straight-forward as it gets. I didnt see what the fuss is all about with the o ring either

Just be careful with the crank pulley removal/installation!

I've got my oil pump exposed because I have just replaced the cam. I want to be sure I have an 01 oil pump on my 01 engine. I've read that the earliest 2001 engines still had the older pump. Unfortunately the part number is on the back of the pump so I either have to pull the pump or get some information on whether my car is not an earlier production 2001. The last 6 digits of the VIN are 105656; does anyone know if this might be an early 2001 production?
