Default Oil pump maybe?

Last week my car started to drop to the 1/4 mark on the gage, but it only did it while sitting at a stop. While I am driving its at the normal spot. Any one know what this could be.

Oil pump is a possibility, but I would lean towards the oil pump sending unit as the first source. Its directly on top of the motor behind your intake manifold.

Thats what my dad thought, I would me lucky if it is because I just bought a new Weiand Lingenfelter intake manifold, and I have to change a knock sensor so it would be right there with all that.

Yep...I have a 98 and every so often it will give me a 30 psi reading when fully warmed up at a stop light. The slightest tap of the accelerator sends it back to 45 or 50 psi though. Its not a big deal at all man...The pumps will generally just wack out rather than die slowly also...

If it was the sending unit your oil pressure would most likely be bouncing all over the place. If the pressure gauge is holding steady at idle, and while cruising, and isnt making any sudden dips or jumps, its most likely the oil pump on its way out.

The car has 109k miles and I just replaced the sending unit and it is still doing it so I guess I will do the oil pump next. Down the road I am planning on a cam but before that I am going to be doing nitrous and stall. Would I be better off getting a aftermarket oil pump if so what one?

If you are going to do the cam, you should probably do it while you're in there doing the pump. Most of the vendors on here that have cams also have oil pumps, like TSP or Thunder LS6 pumps.

Sure is. It's just that you will be half way thru a cam swap when you replace the pump. If you can swing it financially, do them both at the same time. If not - then you will have that much more experience.
