Default 400hp from a stalled A4?

I have narrowed my long research of cams down to three. I can't decide between 231/234 .643"/.598" 111 LSA (torquer 3), or the 233/239 .595"/.603. So far I have pacesetter race longtubes, lid, TSP true duals. I plan to go with a 3600 stall, however I havent decided on a particular brand yet. I'd like to get around 400hp cam only, but I know that is going to be tough being a stalled A4. I have a chance to purchase the Torquer 3 used from a buddy pretty cheap, but that cam has a pretty knarly lift. Obviously the 233/239 is slighty bigger, but my buddy told me that it is pretty old and the lobes are outdated. But the thing that steers me towards the 233/239 is that it doesnt have a real big lift for a daily driver. My last option would be the torquer 2, but EVERYONE in my area has this cam and I'd like to be different. So please chime in and state your opinions!

Wouldn't the 233/239 make more power than the torquer 3?

Im sure they are pretty close to each other. You said everyone has the T2 cam in your area. So, get the used T3 and some springs and be different.

I made 414 at 6100rpm with a good h/c/i combo with my auto and loose yank pt4000 converter. Those #'s were on a weak tune with a vaccum leak so there is ALOT more in the car.

the T3 would be a good cam only set-up, I have the MS3 with a fuddle 3400 stall in my WS6 vert. and made just over 420hp to the wheels cam only.

Awesome numbers guys! You don't think the .643 lift will be too harsh for a daily driver do you? Thats pretty much the only thing holding me back from that cam, also the fact that its used. It has about 3k on it before his motor went do to knocking but he only wants $250. So for a DD would the T3 be fine or should I go with the smaller lift of the 233/239.

I have a 218,228 with .600 lift , 116 JLSA

Much smaller cam that your talking about, and I have 365 RWHP and 355TQ, and thats through an unlocked A4 with 273 rear!
I have Kooks headers and HF cats. no other mods. not even a cold air intake. So I dont see why you should not reach your goal easily.

My cam is set up for a blower, witch is still in my garage, but the point is , you can get a very mild cam and still get power. G Force did the cam swap for me, and the tune, verrrry sadisfied with the results.

And it is like driving a stock car, till you step on it.

I went another route since I DD my car, same results too. I have a MILD 224/224 .563/.563 112 Thunder Racing cam with ported/polished LS1 heads. The car made 396/379 RWHP/RWTQ, drives EXTREMELY well, doesn't lose power at the top end and has over 350 RWHP at 3300 RPM's. Its a great daily, and I have a TCI 3500 stall.

The lift isnt going to be what kills you. Duration is what will make it a rough cam. Theyre pretty similar in duration, I say go for it.

Yeah I'm pretty tempted to go with the Torquer 3 but since the lift is so big I don't want it to totally kill my mileage since its a daily. Another thing that leads me towards it is that a buddy of mine is selling it. But the 233/239 still sounds good...damn its hard to choose a cam.

Torquer 3 is win win. Better deal, and the duration is better than the other choice. Dont worry about the lift.

Thats the answer I was looking for! Much appreciated, I'm still learning about these cams, I think with a good tune I'll be good to go for a DD.

Yes you will very much so. I daily drove almost the same cam back and forth from city to city to and from work with no problems. Was a very nice cam. A tune will be helpful with the likely surging at idle/low RPM.

'Trust', were those numbers with the converter locked or unlocked. If locked to you have the unlocked numbers? Thanks.

If your running a 3400 stall with an MS3, maybe I don't need to go the 3600 route with the Torquer 3.

My wife is running a 3400/2.2STR stall TC with the big ECS cam (240/242 on a 112 range based on the vaccuum). Interesting car to drive for about 5 mins after cold start but gains fairly good street manners afterwards.
