Default Speed Inc Cams

OK.. asked in another thread (sorta)... but wondering now if I ordered what I want. It was recommended that I get the SI5 http://www.ls1speed.com/catagory.cfm...in%20/%20Heads

However, notice that these numbers are significantly lower than Trex--MS3 or MS4....

So does anyone have a Speed Inc grind? Driveability? This will be driven in traffic now and then and I will be keeping stock heads for now....

Check this thread out. I'm getting this cam too. Heads next year.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/699122-dyno-results-cam-231-237-a.html

Also, people get this cam confused with the old TSP 231/237 which was a Lunati cam. This cam is a Comp Cam with healthier lobes.

i have the SI5 231/237 on my cam only all bolton 2001 z28 m6. stock heads

dynoed with airfilter
418
392

without airfilter
432
404

as far as saying if the cam is great for a DD, thats all personal opinion. Plus my car is not a DD.

the cam is extremely smooth and not peaky either, sounds mean and pulls very hard!

Thanks bro... What other mods you have though? Just wondering if I would benefit from a SI6 or 7.... Going to go and pay the remaining balance off tomorrow

mods all bolt-ons and stock heads.

when i did the cam swap, I also replaced the oil pump, switched to a double roller timing chain, swapped springs, and pushrods.

if your car is a daily driver I would NOT go with the SI6 or SI7. reason being:
1. the SI5 is not much of a daily driver cam
2. SI6 or 7 you will have to check for PTV clearance.
3. smaller cams are more fun for daily driving.
4. larry at speed inc. will tell you the same thing, he prefers to sell/put in the SI3 possibly the SI4 for daily driver cars

again some of this comes down to personal preference.

Also your car is a 2000, make sure you get a ls6 intake.

Another vote for the SI5. I don't have mine tuned yet (May 9th), but on my old tune it gets around town pretty well, the cold starts are rough though. My car is an A4 & I am very sure that after the tune, it will drive pretty normal. The cam seems to have plenty of mid range & the dyno graphs that I have seen are real nice looking.

Thanks for all the replies and input. Going to stick with the SI5... Also going to pick up a set of slicks and an LS6 intake...
