Default which cam before d1sc?

guys ive been reading stickies and everything bout cams, ill go mad cos of that much information on the board(thats good though) so my question is, im planning of getting a d1sc for the next summer (2008) but before the charger, i ll need cam, forged pistons and rods etc, so what is your opinions to be able to handle this charger? and also good combination w/o a superchaegr? heres what exoticperformance advise;

http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com....html?item=679
also, it should idle good.
seems hard to decide!

The blower cam from thunder racing is really good and is only a bit louder than stock but has really good street manners.

contact East Coast Supercharging for their proven custom D1 blower cam. idles nice and smooth...but then get ready to put down 700+rwhp.

The EPP cam (232/240 115LSA) is really too big for a 346 IMO. It would be a better choice for a 400+ motor.

The Thunder Racing CheaTR cam and Blower cam are better choices:

215/230 .600/.578 117LSA.

Hi Patrick,

You really think so? I mean on the big exhaust split, yeah, not necessary, but perhaps on stock heads?
myself I would prefer a 226/230 113 or 114 and let boost do the work.

A lot of what works best depends on what type of blower they're going to use. A Magnacharger won't want as much overlap or as much DCR as a Procharger, but both will want similar exhaust duration.

The best cam I've seen for an LS1 with a Procharger was a 220/228 .581/.588 115LSA +2. Only -6 degrees of overlap at .050" which makes it emissions legal and the overlap is centered directly over TDC. It's a custom cam.

The Thunder Cams are shelf cams and available to anyone and seem to work well every time which is why I mentioned them above. Like any application, a custom cam will often get that last few hp the customer is looking for, but it's critical to know ALL the info to do it right.

Best thing is to get advice from the people with whom you're spending money. This way, it's a true partnership.

hey guys I used a 216/228 in a customers car with a D1sc and it worked out really well. he would have lost like 3 lbs boost with stock pulleys so you're gonna have to pulley it up to get the same boost level you want compared to stock cam. he already had LTs/catback all I changed that time was cam and swapped pulleys. just make sure whatever cam your thinking of using, you dont run out of RPM (blower RPM) trying to hit your boost level. but the D1sc has alot higher RPM limits then the smaller ones so you'll prolly be fine anything close to 22x's cam duration-wise.
