about 80 pounds.
You can get soem of the weight back if you go k-mamber and a-arm package.
Iron is stronger, the aluminum is usually more than enough block to tackle what most people want.
What are you wanting to do with it.

You benefit from weight savings with aluminum block and heads.Iron tends to retain heat which allows for higher combustion temperature=more potential power.Aluminum tends to dissapate or remove heat from combustion chambers.Aluminum is more prone to warpage.

If you are going to keep the car NA or relatively conservative FI/nitrous application go with aluminum arp 2000 head studs and keep the weight down.
-Downside, none cheap and easy to build for a reliable well built and maintained car
If you want to push the block to it's limits get billet main caps and 7/16 L19 Head Studs for it and it's good for a bid more power since they help keep the block from distorting,
-Downside Cost for billet mains, Crank, rods and L19 Hardware, Evans Coolant.
If you want to go crazy get an iron block with billet mains and 1/2" L19 headstuds (but at this power level who cares).
-Downside, Cost Of Billet mains, crank, rods, machine work, L19 componenets Evans coolant and deal with the added weight
If you want to go broke building a Production Shortblock get a Iron block, Billet main, BIG main studs (can't remember size) 9/16 L19 head studs, O-ringed Block,.
- HUGE price tag.
