Default Checking PTV?

I'll be installing a pair of patriot stg3 heads w/ the vengeance cam. It is stock height w/ the 2.08 intake valve and 1.60 exhaust. Would the valves effect PTV? Do these kind of valves hang lower? I was just going to flycut .030 and not bother to measure. But should I measure the PTV and hope there's enough room. Do I use the heads I'm going to use to measure the PTV? What is a good method to measure my PTV? Needs as much info.

Would the use of the clay be a better method to figure out the PTV?

Yes, those valves have a huge affect on PTV clearance. Not only because of the diameter but because of the margin (the part that hangs down into the piston beyond the contact point of the seat and valve) Here's how I checked PTVC:

I wish I had that kind of tools to measure it. But I would have to use the clay method. I probably have to bolt on the heads I'm going to use, right? If so I'm going to need to purchase 2 sets of head bolts, correct?

Yes, the heads have to be on to test PTVC. If you use stock TTY bolts, you'll need 2 sets. I'd recommend getting ARP bolts or studs though. If you use the clay method, you'll need a solid lifter of some kind.

What are the specs on the vengeance cam?
You would need to flycut more than .030

Why not just use the old bolts, tighten to 30 lb-ft or some lower number. You don't need to preload them, only take out the clearance.

I was thinking of the same thing. The cam is a 240/244 dur. I forgot what the lift was. It's on a 112+4. How much would you guys recommend to cut if I wasn't going to measure the PTV?
