Default Installed Cam, 150 miles later, knocking?

Make a long story short, i did a cam install in my buddies LS1 swapped 88 formula. it was a 98 motor with around 72k on it. we did a TSP torqer V2 on a 112 with comp 918's double roller chain, ported LS6 pump, etc etc. as you can see we didnt do it half ***. anyways, everything went smooth. car started right up, oil pressure cam right up to the normal 55 lbs.

That was friday, last night he calls me telling me its knocking after 150 miles, i know he has drove it easy, its only seen 6200 twice with the cam.... i just dont understand it. anyone have any idea's?? cuz i have never seen a LS1 do this.

thanks for the help
Charlie

Maybe but I know of many 98s with spun rod bearings.
First check it out and post what you find.

I am going to start it and listen to it, i just cant see it spinning a rod bearing. the inside the motor was clean, and has always had mobil 1 its whole life. i mean it ran 13.0's at 110 with 3.23 gears. so i know it was strong...

i will deff keep you all posted. I think he is going to buy a LQ4 long block and install this cam in that... thats what we are talking as of right now..

my 98 did the same thing... car ran strong before the cam swap. THen boom spins a bearing. I guess those motors really need stronger rod bolts
