Default Thinking about going ahead and getting Trex...

I've been wanting to do a cam for a long time now. I've got everything torn apart at the moment doing an oil pump swap because it's a 98 and the oil pressure has been acting goofy lately and I can't help but wonder if I should just do the cam swap now or wait. I mean I would really rather not have to do all of this work again later, and I've got the money now so maybe I should just go ahead and do it. I've got a few questions though.

I am wanting an all out brutal cam that has no manners to speak of and pull as hard as possible. And I've come down to three cams. The T-Rex, MS4, and The Vindicator. This is not a daily driver so I could really care less about driveability. I know that the T-rex hold the cam only record and for now I will be cam only. But if I wanted to add heads later, which I'm sure I will, how will this cam act with a set of good flowing heads. As well as the other two listed? Better? Worse? Or would you guys suggest one of the others? I want to go low low 10's or high 9's eventually. Which cam would be best in my attempt to get there?

I've done alot of searching on it and everyone seems so torn between the MS4 and the T-rex. The MS4 seems to have more manners and the T-rex seems to have none. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Low 10s is very very hard your car needs to be very light and you need a big stall with any of these cams also you need alot of suspension work.
OH your Rear end will not be happy.

Hope this helps and if doing cam install the change the oil pump.

Well, I haven't updated my sig in a while. I've got a Yank 4000 on the way and I've done UMI torque arm, lower control arms, and panhard bar recently. I've also got a FAST 90/90 on there as well. I'm just wanting to get the most out of my setup. I understand that I will need more supporting mods to get me to low 10's, I was just saying that I want to be there eventually. And I wanted to make sure that the Trex was probably the best choice in aiding me to get there.

how about if I stay with the stock 3.23's for a little while? I wanted to wait until I lost my 10bolt before I upgraded. Will the car drive alright with the stock gears?

The more I read though, I'm kind of beginning to lean towards the MS4....

Another thing to think about with the T-rex/MS4 is rod bolts. You won't be able to rev high enough to take advantage of where a cam as large as those two make power with the 98 rod bolts.

I never knew about the rod bolt issue. Is that true? I never knew that the 98 had weaker rod bolts. If so, does that mean that putting a cam in is going to involve more motor work to get power out of it?

Nope. Just stick new rod bolts in. And for the record, they're really "cap screws". Not "rod bolts".

I've only driven the car twice since the install because it's not tuned. Here is a little vid of it at idle, no tune and a Trex. Pretty civilized, I think...
