Default Cam suggestions for a 382 Stroker.

I am looking for some cam suggestion for a 382 Stroker. I love my TR224 but it is too small. I would like to hear some suggestion.

Mark,

I'm 99% sure I'm going with the R1 (232/236 .575 114), its gonna idle like stock and pull like mad

I doubt the R1 is going to idle like stock!

edit: g5-x2 specs are 232/240 on a 112 not sure of lift but i believe theyre both in the low .600's.

I want something with some lope to it but don't want stalling out issues. I think the TR230 will be a little small and with the stroker I don't want a reverse split. What are the specs on the G5-X2? I think I will be looking more in the range of the R1 or just a tad bigger. How is the idle and drivability if the R1 in a 382 Stroker???

I had a 224/224 in my 382 stroker and it was WAY too small, idled like stock.

I have a 236/232 .602 .575 112lsa in it now. picked up about 10hp/tq and has a great idle. I'll try to get up a sound clip. Very nice lope to it and no surging problems.

I'll let you know on thursday when I start the new motor for the first time. It's a XE lobe with 4* advance ground in.

In a stock cubed engine no, in a 382 no problem

I was thinking 236/236 lift around .581 on a 112 LSA. I feel it will idle better than a 236/240 split. I am going to order something by the end of the week.

383SS Nice web site. Any problems with that .600 lift cam and 918 springs??? That is sort of pushing the envelope. How high of a lift can you go with 918's and not have to worry??? Also how much are your heads milled??? What length push rods?

Wow that is a huge split... No wonder it has to idle at over 1000 rpm...
