stock heads can do that much power easy. save your money and buy a cam. theres plenty of guys making more like 420rwhp with stock heads and a cam. hell you might be able to get that much power out of a full bolt on car.

ok, NO. You will never make even 400 RWHP outta a full bolt-on car, thats crazy talk. And if your gonna hit over 400 with only a cam then your gonna have to run a pretty big cam & have full bolt-ons to help take advantage.

Aftermarket heads are definetly worth the money. Especially if you add a cam to them. Also you need to decide on what goals for the car you have. Cause that could effect your choice on heads & also cam further down the road.

I suggest doin lots of research on what you would like to get out of the car first, then call or PM some respected people like: PREDATOR-Z, Jon@TSP, Matt@SDPC, Patrick G and so fourth. They can really help you get the correct parts together for your specific goals. And they can anwser any technical questions you have.

You can hit 375-400rwhp with a cam and bolt-ons. But to answer your question Heads are worth it.

well you have 241's heads on there right now and they flow pretty well in stock form. I hit over 400 with cam+ bolt ons. Do some research and you will find all of your answers.

400 RWHP is now the standard for cam bolt on cars IMHO. Quite a few are over 420 and some have topped 450. I hit 400 with 4.10 gears, bolt ons, and a little itty bitty 224/228 cam. That was almost 3 years ago.

i should have explained better. his goal is 370-400. so 370 is possible with a full bolt on car. so sorry for the confusion.

yeah do a mild h/c set up if you dont wanna get crazy with it. but when you do a stall (if ur a4) and if you go 12 bolt you will be giving up some power. you could always throw a nice lil shot of funny gas

Yes heads are worth it. Especially when you can get a set of patriots for $1K.

well its an a4 i just plan on getting the heads milled down a little bit, doing a gm performance hot cam with zo6 springs. i appreciate all of the replies. you have all helped out alot. but im new to the scene i kind of need to be pushed in the right direction. its an a4 with a stock stall, it has a fresh rebuilt tranny, only 45000 on the car and motor... only 1000 on tranny.... i also have to drive it everyday... so what are your suggestions based on what i have gave you.........................thankx everyone at ls1tech

a hotcam though? You aren't going to make any power out of that cam. i understand completely that you want driveability, but there are many cams out there that will make alot better power than the hotcam and will still retain stock-like driveability. Also, milling the heads to gain compression is a good idea, but on stock 241 heads the most you will gain is 15 hp MAYBE. after factoring the cost of new head bolts, gaskets, installation, etc...your looking at least $500.

I don't know who you've talked to, but the hotcam does make power. Just not crazy peak hp numbers that most are guilty of falling for. My old 6 speed car would have run 12.0-12.1 had I installed longtubes, ls6 intake, ported TB, and DR's. I ran 12.50s -12.60's @113 with the hotcam, gears, lid, Borla, HPP3. Still had cats on it too.

A almost flawless street set-up with great driveability thats been proven to make power all through the curve & run strong numbers is the 224 cam. It isn't gonna out peak some of the other cams out now, but it's performance will make up for it. Mine is goin in at the end of June along with a set of Bo White 5.3 heads. We are shootin for about 410-420RWHP & its my daily driver.

As for lifters, since you want a good street heads/cam set up, I'd call Matt@SDPC & get some LS7 lifters. They are only like $140 shipped. He also has good pricing on the Melling oil pumps & you'll need a oil pump also. I'd call Jon@TSP about a heads/cam package & see what he can put together for ya.
