Are the stock pistons forged?
I have a friend that says that they are. He is building a LS1 for a 63 nova. He has worked on cars for a very long time to include drag racing. He's very knowledgable. He also says that a friend of his that is the head of maint at a local GM dealership that's heavily involved in racing says they are as well. When he looks at the pistons he says the markings are what forged pistons have. So what gives? Are they forged or not?
Thanks

Re: Are the stock pistons forged?
GM hasnt put forged internals in anything since the 70s as far as I know.
Hypereutic pistons, powdered metal rods w/cracked caps. Cast Iron crank.
Normal stuff.

No - only the cheap stuff is included in the General's LS1, however, it is fairly strong stuff for HP applications under 500....
