Rev a stock LS1 to 6500 but with rod bolts? Hopefully the engine would be making 440whp in that area. Any other precautions I can take to increase my bottom ends longevity? Well... when revving to 6500?

Will you be on the stock cam? If so, why would you want to rev that high? Also, will the valve springs be upgraded? If not, I'd be a bit concerned with valve float at that rpm on the stock springs. The rod bolts should take care of the bottom end, but you have to pay attention to the valve train also. What is the stock limiter set to anyways?

At 6500 rpm your stock rod bolts will be fine. I used to rev both my cammed 99 LS1's to 6800 regularly, with stock rod bolts.

The car is gonna heads/cam setup on it... not a worthless rev. Just wanting to make sure the stock bottom end is gonna take it. Trying to make 430-440whp using a LS6 intake, stock heads (Ported of course), and a pretty large cam. Hoping for 120+mph traps. Stock 6 speed through a stock 10 bolt.

I am shifting mine at 6800 and have been on the rev limiter a few times. I deff think 6500 should be fine with the proper valvetrain.

Oh yea... I got that part down. haha The valvetrain isn't gonna be left out. I'm gonna have quality parts. But I want to make sure that my bottom end won't pop because i'm making 440whp and shifting @ 6500 rpms.

the stock valvetrain usually doesn't start exhibiting valve float until @ or > 6800rpms, you should be fine

For your setup with no other information than in your sig I would give you a conservative 6200rpms.

Now everybody can jump in with whatever higher values they want but if this is your daily driver and you are a young person with limited cashe, for longevity sake, I stick by what I said.

I've been spinning my 98 to 6400, I just make sure I check the oil before I beat on it to make SURE it's full. Hopefully my stock rod bolts keep my car intact at this rpm.

i have a 99 with arp bolts and i shift at 6800 and my limiter is at 7 and ive tapped it twice. stilll intact. the 10 bolt-ya well its going to blow so start saving for a real axle.

2001 up engines have stronger rod bolts than 2000 and earlier engines do from the factory.

My 99 T/A has a stock bottom end and I tend to shift ~6,200 rpm with my set up. We set the package up this way to keep the rpm down in a nice safe area. I've hit the rev limiter which is set at 6,800 rpm a few times with no harm. Car has 93,000 miles on it. Has had heads and cam since 32,xxx miles.

Personally, 6,500 is the max I'd spin a stock bottom end 2000 or earlier LS1 to by choice. I like having more safety margin and like my ~6,200rpm shift points just fine.

Many early LS1's have been spun past 6,500 many times and held up.

Make sure the oil level is full before the high rpm stuff.
