Default 918 shim under or on top of valve seat?

1. Do you place shims under the valve seat or on top of the seat/locator?

2. If using the second design valve seat/seal ( one piece vs two ),
whats the max shim stack ( if shims belong under seat ?) that
will still allow an effective oil seal.

Thanks.

Assuming you have the correct shims, they will go on top of the 2nd generation seal. If you put them under the seal it will raise the seal up so it isn't seated and will also reduce your retainer to seal clearance, which could become an issue.
