400HP Daily Driver on Stock Heads?
My 00' WS6 is my daily driver which sees 50 miles a day or so during the school year. Im looking for a setup that will hopefully get me around 400 rwhp and still be daily driveable and not too bad on gas mileage. Possible on stock heads? Heres my current setup:
63k Miles
Stock LS1 Internals
Pacesetter Coated LTs w/ ORY
Hooker 3" Catback
SLP Lid
Motive 4.10 Rear-End
Cost of the total project all accessories included?

you would be looking around 2000 whne it is all said and done with buying everything and getting it tuned. You will hear it over and over again when people say it all comes down to the tune for drivavbility. If you are DD it I would reccommend a 228-232 range cam or smaller. Anything over that and it will be a higher RPM car, and thats not usually good for a DD.

dual springs can handle more lift, and that is all you really need to know .600+ you need duals, under and you can get away with 918's but as recent problems with the 918's I would just spend the money and get duals.
The T2 is fine for DD if you have a good tune. You might want to look into something along the lines of the g5x1 cam.
If I had to do it over again I would of gone a little smaller, now I am looking for a decent set of heads to get me some more TQ back.

BG552,
I suggest reading the thread at the top about cam size. Most daily drivers are probably better off with a 220 to 230 sized cam.
TR224 sized cams are excellent for daily drivers. I don't think that will hit 400rwhp cam only but it is a very good choice overall. With heads it will make nice power.
Question about your goal is it just peak numbers? Less peak and a better power band is usually more fun to drive on the street.

I did 400/395 with a T1. It dosent take much to make 400 to the wheels in a 6-speed car, you just cant cut corners and throw something together and hope it works. If your willing to go with a set of heads you can run a lot less cam.

Id like it to be much more choppy than an idle sound but at the same time
i dont want something that sounds like its preparing to eat my dog.

lots of cam, lose drivabilty and economy, or
moderate cam, heads, great drivability and reasonable economy
If you (or your budget) decide to go cam only, I'd suggest the TR230/224 reverse split cam. It is designed to make great power cam only without giving up all the torque. A good tune will be required, but 400rwhp should come fairly easily with your supporting mods. As previously stated, an LS6 intake will help too!
If you can swing even a budget set of heads (PP, PRC, etc) it makes it that much easier to get 400rwhp without to much cam. Good heads and a 220 - 224 cam will make tons of power all over the range used by a daily driver.

I'd go 224/224 112LSA plus 4 degrees on an XE-R or similar lobe to keep dynamic compression decent (Use PRC/PP gold double springs)
LS6 intake
Ported throttle body
UD pullies
160 stat
Single 3 inch cutout in intermediate pipe
Good tune
That'll get you close and be perfectly drivable. You could go EWP but I'd recommend sticking with the stock waterpump on a DD that you drive daily all over the place. You have 4.10s so that'll drop your numbers slightly from a 3.42 but the car will rip with that combo.
ps- Check your ORY to make sure everything is clean at the merge.
