Default Instructions for checking Piston Valve Clearance with heads on????

I have looked at the search and seen where you can determine PVC with the heads on the car. I am wondering if there is a detailed write-up on this any where. If not maybe someone could post up the proceedure for doing this.

thanks

I have been running my H/C combo for a while now. I am just trying to figure out if I can pull the heads and have them milled down any.

If you use a dial indicator and ensure that the lifter isn't compressing (you would need to check by feel to make sure the pushrod is compressing the checker spring and not the lifter spring) you may be able to use your regular lifter. Rotate each 2* from 20* before to 20* after TDC and measure the distance of valve drop from the position at lift until it just contacts the top of the piston.
