i would just drop the k member and take the engine out of it, takes you something like 4 hours, (i was) its just so much much better to work on the engine like that,

plus that it is horrable to work on the headbolts when the engine is in the car,

Im sure it is easier to pull teh heads with teh engine out, but Im not sure its enough to justify pulling the motor. Thats a pretty big job itself.

i know its not a must to take it out, but if you have done it before it take wery little time, and its realy comfy to work on the motor sitting in front of you,

i hafe tryed both, just my opinion

head installs are a pain in the *** when the motor is in these cars. depending on how long it would take to drop the k member and take that motor out it might be worth it.....other than that ls1howto.com has a great guide for doing this
