Default is there a way to find out the specs of a cam without a cam card??

just wanted to know if there is any why to find out the specs of a cam if you dont have a cam card?? I recently bought a cam from a friend of mine for $50 and everytime i have asked him about the specs he says something a lil different. At first he told me it was a 224/228 then he told me it was a 226/226 and now everytime i ask him he tells me it is a 228/229 so i just want to know for sure what it is before i install it...thanks

If its a Comp cam, get the numbers off the end & call Comp. Thats what I did just to double check mine & they faxed me a original spec sheet for my cam that day.

Getting the info from Comp is good but I would still want to put the cam on a Cam Doctor to find exactly what you have to work with. The actual cams will vary a little bit from the Cam card info, it's just the nature of the process.

The card will probably get you close enough.

Tolerances, man. Just because the cam is SUPPOSED to be a certain measurement doesn't mean it will be that. In fact, almost all of them are not an exact match for what they're supposed to be.
