They are cheap but they are good pistons and are light weight..Ive had mine in for about 2 years with 14psi and some nitrous every now and again.

since you are rebuilding the engine now would be a great time to put in some arp rod bolts also or if funds permit a set of decent h-beams. then you would have a very solid bottom end that would handle quite i bit of power.

+1 for getting new rods in addition to the pistons.

+1 for Mahles being a good buy. They're inexpensive, but they're supposed to be good pistons. The best part is that they come with the rings, too!

Nitrous wise I'm guessing they are something like a 4032 material for "small nitrous applications". Here's how it was described to me from the guys at Outlaw Motorsports.

Make sure you invest in some Hellfire rings and have them fitted. These are a necessity! You will have to have them file fitted.
Forged piston only should take a 200 shot no problem.

Yes, easily. That quote I posted was a stock rod and crank with forged pistons only. The rods only started to get wavy after a few bottles of the 300 shot off the transbrake.

ok i think i am just gonna leave the rods stock and the crank stock and just spay a 150 shot of nitrous . With a 150 shot will the motor be safe and can i spray it alot at the track like that with no worries? thanks for all the input.

I just created a thread about this. You can check it out here:

150 will be fine as long as it's tuned properly. You could even continue to push it more. I'm going to tell you though that those scat I beams are good insurance and in some instances cheaper than having your stock rods reconditioned. $250 with free shipping.....

I think I paid $475-500 for mine with rings, pins, and locks. They're 3.903" bore, -9cc dished w/ valve reliefs.
