Default Silicone on pan gasket?

Did you guys who have done Oil pump/timing chain replacements and dropped the oil pan down to get the pickup tube bolt out put silicone around the pan gasket perimeter before bolting it back up or did you just bolt it up without it? I know the correct way would be to replace the gasket...but not the easiest thing to do in the car. I just don't want to create an oil leak. Thanks in advance for your input.

Like the others said. Only where the tiiming cover sits. I dont leak at all from the pan gasket. Just snug it back up and you should be fine.

The pan gasket doesn't need it, just at the pan/cover connecting points.

i personally laid a small bead of RTV around the perimeter of the pan and the bottom of the timing cover.

Thanks guys...it looks like some of you did and some didn't. Then it will probably be fine either way as long as one doesn't go crazy with the stuff.
