6.0L 550HP Car Craft build
I think many have seen the article:
http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...ads/index.html
With using many of the same components (6.0L, L92 heads, carb'd), would there be any reccomendations to use a bigger cam? Or raise the CR?
I am in midst of a build, quite similar to the one in the article, but I was hoping that I caould get some feedback to see if it was worth a few ponies to change the cam or raise the CR.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Man that buildup is nice but I am very disappointed to see Car Craft didn't post up any cam specs. Oh well I'm saying you can make a ton more power than that with those heads, an L76 intake manifold (available for $504 with 38 lb Injectors, rails and TB from GMPD) and a comp cam PN 54-488-11 it's got .605" .609" lift 238* 240* duration and a 112 LSA. That intake also will net your better fuel economy than a carb. All you need is a harness an ECU and unload the TB that comes with the intake manifold and buy a NW 90MM LS2 TB.
I am really not a fan of carbing the LS motors unless it's a trailer queen and even then I prefer to stay injected. It gives you better drivability, better fuel economy, and better control of your fuel management. Not to mention you don't have to worry about adjusting the carb every time you have any kind of change in elevation.
So to answer your question yes it is worth it to up the cam size and I don't see a problem with bumping up CR either just be sure you won't have issues with PTV clearances before you just throw this thing together and pray for the best.

I am using a L76, Holley 90mm TB, LS2 Fuel Injection. This is the Cam:
COMP CAMS CUSTOM GRIND 243/247, .621(XFI)/.612(X-ER), 114+3LSA

The second cam they used was:
COMP CAMS XR281HR
Advertised Duration: 281/283
Duration @ .050": 228/230
Lift w/ 1.7 rocker: .571"/.573"
Lobe Separation: 112
Intake Centerline: 110
It just seemed fairly mild. You guys bring up some super valid points, but I really want to keep my 2nd gen old school, hence the carb. Plus I want to try and build this right as my ultimate goal is to get it into the 11's N/A.
What kind of #'s are you guys turning with your set-ups?

C'mon man, spill the beans!! Need numbers! I am in the stage right now of ordering parts.
Also from your discussions, are others just using the castings as is, without milling? And what size head gasket are folks using?
