Help! Cleaning headbolt holes on block and now paper towel ripped off in the bottom
I was cleaning the coolant out of the boltholes on the block and some of the paper towel ripped off inside of it! I already tried a coat hanger, compressed air, and a thread cleaner and only got a few chunks of it to come out. Has this happed to anyone else and how do I fix it?

Is this post a joke? Holy **** if the only problems you're having is that you have some paper towel in a headbolt hole...
Try a can of air and stuff the red tube down the hole and the paper towel should blow out. If that doesnt work, take a piece of coat hanger and make a little hook on the bottom with some pliers.

It's at the bottom of the bolt hole about 4 1/2 inches down, can't get needle nose pliers down there or tweezers. Tried the shopvac and that to didn't work. Running out of ideas

shop vac
I know that you said you used a shop vac, but what works really well for me is attaching a long thin straw to the end of the shop vac. Just rig it up with a ton of duct tape so that it doesnt leak too bad. With the straw all the way down the hole, that paper towel should get cloged in the end. Then when you get all the holes clean, do yourself a favor if you didnt already, and buy a set of head studs. They are much stronger, reusable, and best of all you will never have to clean out the holes again.

Squirt bottle filled with distilled water.. flood the bolt hole til it floats to the top and blow it out with an air hose. Do this a few times. Make sure it's dry before you torque your heads back on later.

I had the same problem just last week. Had the same responses. Well I went to Lowe's and look for something to get it out with. And this is what I came out with and it worked. It didn't take me long to get it out. The brand is called Irwin, it's yellow and blue, and it's about $20. But I returned it and got my $$ back.

You can see the screw point at the end. I just stab the paper with it and wrapped it around the bit. I hope this helps

Got it, thanks everyone who tried to help; accually used a small hook thing a girl gave me from a hair highlighting kit, got the towel wet and used the needlenose pliers to hold the hook pulled it out in about 4 chunks. Think I might keep that thing around!
