quick ? patriot lq9 stage 2 vs 3
the stage 2 will fit an 3.905" ls1 correct? and the stage 3 need to have a 4.00" bore? Is this cause the valves will hit the bore, or cause the valves will be too shrouded by the bore to flow that much. Also I thought 317 heads where 75 cc and I see patriot lists theirs at 72cc. Milling them i guess?
Sorry if this has been discused before.

I talked to patriot themselves about this, they said on the stage 3's on a stock block there would be to much shrouding and, and that the only difference between the stage 2 and stage 3 is the valve size. The same port work is done on both heads. If you plan on putting the patriot heads on a stock bore go with the stage 2's.

Thanks that was the info I was looking for. Know I need to find out exactly what cc. to use. I plan on staying 346, maybe forged. I'm keeping mt z06 cam cause its cali friendly. Looking to make around 550 rwhp on a dyno pack dyno. I would guess 9.5: - 9.8:1 should be good for my goals

If you go with the 72cc heads, let me know how your Dyno comes out. I just relaced my stock LS1 heads with some stock LQ9 (317) heads, and my power is low,, the car runs a little hotter, and my gas milage went to crap. I am running 10-11 psi with a Maggie. I am going to go back with some 64cc or 66cc chamber heads. I have been told be a couple of F/I builders that unless you are running at least 14psi, you don't need to run low compression.
