Default Has anyone tapped the hole for the water temp sender?

I really don't want to pay $10 in shipping on a $5 adapter to run my water temp gauge sender in the passenger's head, because no one locally can get that M12 to 1/8" NPT adapter.

Has anyone tapped the hole for 1/4" NPT? It looks to be just slightly larger than the M12 hole, and even if a few chips get in the block while tapping it, I doubt they'll hurt anything...

Just wondering...

I thought the temp sensor was in the driver's side head, and just a plug in the passenger side...?

I removed that passenger side plug and drilled it, followed by tapping it to 1/4" NPT.. work find... Many have stated that it runs/reads hotter there than at the drive side front. But Mine seem about normal.. with lower T-stat and fans coming on at about 200.. I run between 180 to 200 all day long on my VDO gauge.
