Default torquing rockers

when torquing the rockers back down to the approximate 22-24 ft-lbs do you need to make sure the rockers have play in them? or can you just go torque all 16 rockers down without turning the motor over to check rocker play? the tutorials i read just say to torque them all down.

Assuming you have measured the preload, when you're ready to install all 16, coat the threads with sealer and torque them all down.

Correct procedure is to torque 1/2. You put crank at TDC, torque those on the base circle per the manual. Then rotate 360 and torque the rest. Bolt preload will be different if you do otherwise.
