Default Oil on MAF and in bellows

Autox last Saturday, test and tune. Which means 20-30 back to back autox sessions. Removed MAF, was going to try my stock MAF ( vs. GMAF for my runs ). Saw oil on the TB, on the bellows ( pooled in the accordian ) as well as all over the MAF.

Suggestions? My first thought is a catch can. This is a newer motor, never had oil sucked that hard through all those pieces when it was stock.

Using 4 quarts 10w30, 2 quarts 15w50, AC/Delco PF44 filter.

Also had the truck PCV valve on. Also discovered a pinhole in the PCV tube where the silver 'clip' holds it in place ( clip attached to bolt on tube between heads for coolant ). I have since put my stock PCV valve back, replaced the PCV tubing with the leak.

Wondered if anyone else has had this issue. I've read alot of guys with oil on the TB, but MAF and bellows?

HELP!! PLEASE!! I can't test high rpm oil sloshing till the next autox. Normal driving around 1/4 mile blasts doesn't do it.

The exhaust probably smoked while on the AX course.

I will venture to guess it backfired since you last looked at the TB/MAF.

Did you spin and kill the car?

No smoke, no backfire, never spun.

That's why I was so surprised.

Could it have been the PCV hose leak that caused it? Meaning if it wasn't sealing on the PCV valve right it allowed more oil though?

Well, the MAF and the bellows is upstream (before) the inlet to the intake manifold where the inlet tube for the PCV system is located.

So .... My guess is that you oiled your K&N / etc filter too much.

No way that a PCV system is going to get oil way up in the MAF.

BTW, I have seen oil from the PCV system around the butterfly of the throttle body, but no way up into the MAF.

It was also raining in the morning of the autox. Interesting. With FRA, K&N, GMAF ( no screen ), the oil from the filter was pushed through by the water? I could see that. That makes a heck of a lot more sense than so much oil in the back of the TB ( from PCV ) that it was shot through.

FRAM better?
