where to buy a 383 or 408?
im looking to get a 383 or a 408 crate motor that i can just take the heads and intake off my ls6 and slap it on the new motor. i all ready looked at SDPC but there 383 has
Eagle 4.000" stroke, 4340 forged steel crankshaft
Scat 6.125" H-Beam , 4340 forged steel rods (with ARP bolts)
Manley 2618 forged flat top pistons, -2cc
Clevite H series race bearings
but i was told to stay away from eagle and not to sure about scat.
how much do you think this engine can handle?
who has the best assmeblies for the price?

I recommend LME, speak to Bryan Neele
Also look at HPE
Basicaly shop around, send e-mail, get WRITTEN quotations. You'll be ammazed how quickly you can see professionalism. After all if a shop cannot handle their paperwork properly, can you really trust their products?

the eagle stuff is less quality than say a lunati crank but don't be fooled, there have been alot of high hp motors with eagle crank/rods combos. unless you plan on BIG hp numbers just about any sponsor can put you together a good mill. a 408 should run you around 3800-4200 shipped for just the shortblock.lme, hpe, sdpc, tsp among others all can hook u up, as already said just get you a written estimate of the parts being used.

Keep in mind that it is just an extra $100 to get a Callies Compstar 4" crank in there instead of the Eagle. We can also upgrade to the Compstar rods for an extra $100 if you'd like!
