Default oil starvation?

I noticed that when I launch my TransAm very hard (like at the track with tires hooking in 1st gear), my oil pressure drop to like 30psi, then as I shift 2nd gear, pressure climbs back to 60-80psi.

During the burnout, when I hold the brake and WOT, oil pressure is at 70psi, when I release the linelock and the tire hooks, oil pressure drops down to 30 psi again...

Sounds like pumps gets some air instead of oil... maybe I should consider overfilling engine oil?

You may need to fill it a little more. Also your pump could be on the way out the door possibly.

Just check your oil level before you go out racing. You dont want to overfill it though. I dont think you have anything wrong, just the oil moving around a little under force.

Doesn't it hurt motor getting that low pressure for about 1-2 seconds WOT at the track?

The oil doesnt stop flowing, just slows down for a split second, if it dropped to 0, then I would be very concerned. Maybe a baffle system would improve the situation.

The only other fix I see for you is stop launching it, but like I said, I dont think anything is wrong here.

By all means call a vendor and ask one of the experts opinion.

If your going to continue drag racing it and having them hard launches, I would suggest looking into a aftermarket pan that has the pickup at the rear most end of the slump. Or modify yours to add a baffle behind the pickup area to assist in keeping the oil around the pickup during the launch.

Here is an in car video, you can see oil pressure in the center gauge.

OIl pressure drops each time I get traction in 1st gear as you will see.

Good looking run. Just may need another baffle in the pan. but since you have aftermarket gauges, I might hook the stocker back up just to see if it does the same thing. If it does then you know its not the gauge.

I would like to know, but I have no plan on going back to track before fixing my oil problem...

Well then your definitely going to have a hard time determining if its the gauge or not.
