Default Cleaning the Pistons?

Well, about 2-3 days ago I read a thread on here about cleaning the pistons while doing a H/C swap. So Today I bought some WD40, and VERY mild sponges, and cleaned up all 8 of them. My questions is though, I did get all of it off, will this affect anything? The pistons are smooth to the touch, but you can still see some of the carbon deposits on them.

Default Re: Cleaning the Pistons?

I cleaned mine up with a putty knife and some carb cleaner. Worked great. Some of my pistons had to have at least 1.5 mm of gunk on them.
