Default What 230 cam will get me up the track the quickest

I want a cam around the 230 duration range and 111=112 lobe, and below a .600 lift. I was looking into the X1 and a few others... and my question is... What cam will get up the 1/4 mile track the quickest (not necessarily being the king of the dyno.. although I wouldn't mind).

Would it be a sizeable single pattern like the ESP 228R, or a reverse split like the X1, or the TR230

How safe is it with Comp or Maley valvesprings when reving past 6700 RPM... on stock heads?

If there is a better grind for me then something that is manufactured (X1, ESP 228R, TR230), then let me know... meaning if there is something that I can get ground custom.. is there something better.

This will be used with stock heads too.

Please help me bacause I am ordering one soon!!

Thanks

We had a 98 vette with stock heads pull 403rwhp with a 230 style cam. Give us a call if you got any questions, I have a few cams that would work awesome for you.

I got off of the phone with Mark at Raging Motorsports a little while ago. He was telling me about a cam that they have... that may solve my quest for my cam.

It was a 230/238 .592/.605(?) I am not sure what lsa, but he swears by it. I am going to give it some serious thought. I need to make a decision soon.

Tell me what you think about the specs.. oh yeah it is a comp grind.

that should be plenty of clearance, I have 555 lift w/heads that are cut .040, and I have 2.02, 1.6 valves. Did piston to valve clearance check and came up with over .100 of clearance.

Quite a few folks have had good luck with the G5X2 cam... RAGEman went 11.1X on stock heads (admittedly, his car is fairly light, has a 4.56 geared 9", and he's a hell of a drag racer), and JS12 went something like 11.3X, also on stock heads, with a 3.73 geared 12-bolt and a heavier car.

G5X2 specs, as I'm sure that we're all aware, are 232/240 .595/.609 on a 112. On both RAGEman's and JS12's cars, the heads were never removed, and to my knowledge, neither of them has had any issues regarding PV clearance.

Could this cam that I was talking about reach 400 RWHP judging by the specs of it?

Do you guys think that I would have any valvtrain problems.. other then that usual "new valvesprings every couple years" type maintanance?
