Best bang for the buck rods I'd say are the Callies. they can be had for under $600.

compstar rods with mahle pistons in my wheezer. pretty much most of the h beam rods will handle quite a bit of power.eagle,scat,manley. piston wise i guess it depends on what you plan to do with the motor but a regular forged piston like the mahle or similar will handle over 700 rw without any issues imo. if i planned on boosting big or spraying 250 + then is when i would look into a nitrous/turbo specific piston.

You can usually find SCAT or Eagle rods on ebay for about $350-$400. I think SDPC even has forged replacement pistons for cheap too, around $500.

I'm actually getting rid of my stuff, I don't know if you're wanting a dished piston or not but you can check it out if you like:

I'm running Scat H-beams, and probe forged pistons. Motor sounds better, and quieter than the stock ever was. No piston slap or any of that ****. Clevite 77 bearings, ls7 lifters, ported oil pump, etc. Holds a nice 45+ oil pressure at idle at idle

Eagle has great on-center LS1 rods in 6.125 and 6.200 long and Callies has their Compstars in 6.125. These are probably the best bang for teh buck in that order.

Thumbs up

Probe has the least expensive forged LS1 pistons for the 346. I mostly use Wiseco and Diamond which are a little more expensive but also more robust as well.
