Default Trying to remove paint from LS6 springs...

....What should I use to do it? They have a light coat of yellow on them, and I dont want the dealer to notice under the oil fill cap, so I want to make them look stock. Do you think paint thinner would work, I dont want to harm or soften the metal whatsoever!

This stuff called Goo Gone may work check your local hardware store. Laquer thinner may work well too.

There's a special paint-stripper spray you can get at some autoparts stores, it works a lot better than any solvents or thinners.

Why do you want to remove the paint stripe?
GM LS6 springs are covered under warranty.

You think the dealer is going to see a spring? I have a hard time seeing more than the top of the rocker.

Once the oil changes color, I think it would be really hard to see the color. Paint thinner will probably cut the stuff off of the springs. I seem to remember that it being very fragile and a light pressure from a standard screwdriver would flake the coating.

springs do come in different colors so I would not worry about your dealer thinking you changed springs.... now if he can hear the cam lope you are in trouble...
