Default Is a H/C swap going to make my car louder?

Kinda a newbish question, but a question none the less. I'm looking at either a Comp 228R or split 228/230 on some good flowing heads (undecided yet). Just curious as if it's going to make my car louder. I know it's going to sound DIFFERENT, but volume wise will it be louder? I'm set up w/ Pacesetter LT's, 3" TSP ORY, and Flowmaster 80 series muffler (which is OK, but not as loud as i'd want it to be). Not just gettin' cam/heads for sound, just one of those collateral effects i care about.

What lsa are you looking at on the cam, that will be the deciding point but yes it will be louder.

Thought so, cause when i think about it logically, more air in - more air out. Or am i simply retarded?

There is probably a little more to the story than that, but that's the basic idea. I can almost always tell when a car has a cam just from the sound (not just the idle either). The sound is usually deeper, and definitely louder under load.

no it does not, the lobe separation angle is simply the angle (in degrees)between the centerline of the intake lobe and the exhaust lobe. the lower the lsa, the more valve overlap (amount of time that both the intake and exhaust valves are open) the lower lsa will definitely give it a choppy idle, and make each little valvetrain noise that much more noticeable. the higher lsa will give it a smoother idle because of the lack of overlap. duration and lift work with lsa to determine the sound of the cam/valvetrain. anyway, aside from exhaust tone/volume, valvetrain noise will almost always become louder with the addition of heads/cam....expecially when dual springs are used.

Yes louder.

I have the 228R cam ( see sig for idle ), and properly tuned, Its a nice cam. The 228/230 would be a hair better
