Default 85mm MAF or MAF ends with stock MAF?

I've seen the issue in GMHTP where a Bolt-on TA picked up 5rwhp with a SLP 85mm MAF and Bellows but he lost 5rwhp and 8rwtq up until 5k rpm. Is that because it is a bolt-on? I plan on doing the TR230 cam and tuning so I'm wondering if I should just get ENDS only and keep the stock MAF (it's descreened.) Will Thunder have to tune around the SLP tuning which would make it redundant to have? Will the stock 75mm MAF support over 420rwhp? Thanks.
BTW: Isn't the new 85mm Granetelli supposed to be just bigger without tuning unlike the SLP 85mm?
