What is the order of the main caps?

Default What is the order of the main caps?

I got my block and the main caps were not on the block when it was shipped. What is the order of them? Thanks guys

#1 is in front, then 2, 3, 4, and #5 in the back. Make sure tha caps are facing the right direction too, unless you are gonna line hone it. Then I don't think it matters.

what is the correct direction? I know the caps have those little tips on the ends of them, which way do those face?

My stockers had numbers on them. Standing at the rear of the motor you should be able to read the numbers. If you were standing at the front of the motor the numbers will be upside down. #1 goes at the front down to 5 at the rear of the block. 1-4 numbers were on the right side of the caps and #5 was on the left side of the cap. Hope this helps

the tabs on the caps 1-4 face towards back on engine and number 5 faces forward.

I have never worked on an LSx type of engine, but Every engine I have ever seen has the bearing tang slots on the same side of the engine. I would assume the LSx is the same. So if the caps are on backwards the tang slots will be on opposite sides of the engine.
