cam or wait
so i just bought a cam (torquer v2) and am having trouble deciding wat to do. i have no mods done to my car accept wats listed in my sig
should i go ahead and buy a timing chain set, new oil pump, springs/pushrods/etc and get the cam in and tuned, and have it that way till i buy other stuff.
or should i wait till after i buy exhaust/intake?
im on a limited budget so if i wait itll b a long time till i get it in. having it in without those mods still would b better than as it sits correct?

i dont think throwing a cam in a car doesnt has exhaust and intake, plus no valve springs etc.. is a good idea !
get the exhuast first and intake, then complete the cam rpm kit (springs-pushrods-etc)
then you are ready to install it. other wise your engine will struggle with cam that big.

Limited budget is a very hazy term... how limited? Can you replace stuff if/when it breaks? I would set yourself up with some bolt ons first, then when you have some spare coin, throw the cam and supporting mods in. Regardless, the cam will perform better (that one at least) with all the other stuff. Stick with LS6 intake vs. FAST if you're on a budget. In terms of whether or not it'd be better than how it is now even with just the cam, well... it'd be more powerful, if that's your question. But you'd be choking it out IMO, and selling it short. At the VERY least get the other mods for the cam swap (spring kit, chain, oil pump, gaskets, etc.). Good luck.

just on my cam this is what i spent: MTI cam $300 push rods $119 gaskets, bolts, etc $100, valvesprings $160, ls6 ported oil pump $100, install $650 tune $399.
its not cheap... headers y pipe and exhaust will run you about 1000k-1200. lid you can pick up used for $100 or less.
you should also get a ls6 intake mani for the cam..... 300+
have fun
