i would go for the 224 or a 228. they make great power and since its a dd i wouldnt go 230 but a lot of people daily drive even bigger cams though so its up to you

I just installed a TR230 and love it. It's a bitch to tune, but once you get there, it drives great and feels awesome. I'm having tranny issues right now, so it's hard to say how much of a gain I noticed, but with shifting at 5800 on the 2-3 shift (It's all it will currently hold) it still feels like a beast. It pulls so much harder, especially on top end. I likey...and I can't wait to get the tranny ironed out so I can likey even more. I'd recommend it for sure. It's an older cam, but it's proven itself time and again.

You have the 224 before??

TR 230 is my vote. Ive read both cams are very great performers but the tr230 more power under the curve.. and thats what counts.

Can't go wrong with either IMO. I was 99% sure I was gonna do the TR230, then I just decided F-it, and went with a Pat G custom. I never hear complaints on ANY of Thunder's cams FWIW, only people wishing they might have gone bigger

No, stock cam.

I too was going to go with a PatG custom 230/230, but I found a hell of a deal on this cam and snagged it. I talked to PatG and he said it would work well. It makes awesome torque all the way across the power band.

Here's a good read on the TR230. Quite impressive!

If you are keeping the stock heads don't waste you money on the fast 90/90, you won't see much of a gain.

If you aren't doing a H/C package, I'd just stay with the LS6 intake. The FAST 90 makes more power, but IMO not enough to justify the cost with a cam only setup. I think another ~10 rear wheel or so is what you might see vs the LS6 intake.

You might throw an UD pulley on there instead since you'll have the stocker off anyway. That's another ~10 rear wheel or so for a lot less than a FAST setup. Just an idea .

TR230, see sig.

It is a pain to tune but it's worth it.

what makes it so hard to tune. Is it because it is a reverse split cam!

No you don't have to. You will be better off in the long run though. You could always do it down the line. LS6 + P&P TB combo will yield even better results after a cam.

No, it's the low LSA that makes it hard to tune. Tuning the cam to operate is easy, it's getting the idle dialed in that's a pain.

TR = thunder racing. They have "the" exact cam mentioned, not sure if you'd find it from another place. Most places I've seen sell the cams themselves for the same/close to the same price. FWIW I bought my custom one from Thunder along with a bunch of other stuff and was incredibly pleased with the customer service.
