Default high duration low lift?

hey guys im doing a little experiment with a custom cam. im going cam only with bolt on retaining the ls6 intake. the cam that is being ground for me is a 236/242 on a 112. looks almost the same as the ms3 right, however, the lift numbers are 580/591 compared to that of the ms 603/609. just interested to see what u guys think the results with be?

whats the ramp rate or whatever its called. Its obviously going to be less h/p, but i as well would like to know how it shifts the power band or whats going to happen. At least if u need to u could change ur rocker ratio

doubt it would change the power band much...just the peak power level a little.

and honestly, the only way you'd probably see it is if you installed the 2 cams on the same car...and dynoed each.

cars vary too much from one to the next to truely compare a small change like that.

i have an ms3 that will be going in the same car as a baseline test. just wanted to see what you all would think would happen b4 this goes in. It looks interesting that the lift @ .002 is slightly higher than that of the ms3. Wheres Patrick G when you need him lol . One thing i am concerned with is the dcr With cam only ms3 the dcr is like 7.5 thats really damn low how do they make that much power?

I wouldn't call that "low lift", it's just not as big as
some. The lift is greater than the stall-lift for stock
LS1 heads as I understand it. So going more would
only affect how much time you spend above stall,
determined by the ramp rate.

I agree. Not sure if you would loose anything. A lot would depend on the flow rate of the heads and how the new cam was ground at the top.
