Gas mileage??

How come a stock LS1 gets such good of gas mileage? They have better gas mileage than some 4 cylinders.

I put in 4.11's and my fuel economy did not change; but then I have a 6-speed.

I didnt notice a gas mileage difference when I put my 4.10's in either. But when the heads and cam went in with the 30 lb injectors I noticed a difference.
