Default Down low.. How much does the Torquer 2 give to a TR224?

OK guys-

I think I am going to order a cam/heads today..

I am still on the fence between Patriot 5.3's or PRC 5.3's..

I am also on the fence on the cam..

My mods are:

FTRA, Lid, Polished/Ported TB, LS6 Intake, Hooker LT's, ORP, GMMG, Vig 2800 (3200) and the freebies..

I am wanting a street car.. I'd like to break 400horses, but putting up numbers are not the priority, having a great performing car is..

Now.. I am down to the T2 and the TR224..

Anyone want to persuade me one way or the other?

You should easily break 400 with either setup. I'll be switching the heads to some ported 5.3's in the future. Sorry I can't give specifics on the power output but you can see my results (without heads) in the sig. Also dyno graph available on my site also in sig.

Both of those cams are good, but why just those two.. There's a couple good combos between those that would work great down low & still pull hard up top..

-224/228
-patriot 226
-228/228r
-224/230 & so on.

Well, so far, I love the way the TR224 sounds over the rest of the ones I have heard.. The only one that comes close is the Patriot 226..

TR224 sounds weak =P I'd save a little more for TEA heads or something though.

GT - How does your car do down low?

The 226 does sound pretty nice.. I've watched your clip several times.. Is that through a cutout or anything?

228/228 ???. I'll post a sound clip this weekend, sounds great and is a beast through the entire rpm range. Ever thought of running afr heads, the do very well with med sized cams.

AFR's are well outside of my budget..

I'd love to have some, but I have other things I have to pay for..

Yea thats the old set-up.....LT's ORY and cut-out......It pulls really hard down low and midrange.

Here is a clip of me racing my buddies Torquer2 car with just about the same mods...u can see i pull harder thru the 1/8 but after that he starts to real me back in......i finished first but he got a faster time by like .05.....he was a on a nitrous tune and i was on the stock ls1 intake and a mail order tune.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku8cLrHBTcs

Ive also raced an MS4 car, and if he spun just a split second i would put about 2-3 cars on him....the time we both dead hooked we were sided by side until third then pulled he away on me putting almost 3 cars on me in 3rd gear alone. Its a very strong low and midrange cam, and thru my duals it sounds SOOO SWEEET!!

If you want power get the TR224. If you want sound get the Torquer 2, That is a cam that will put out low TQ. Both cams will put up the same peak rwhp. The TR224 will beat it @ peak Tq and TQ all across the rpm range.

Top schmop.

I should break 400rwhp anyway, I don't care how much it makes as long as I break 400..

I disagree. Hes gotta Vigalante in there and he is gonna stall right into that TV2s powerband. And thats a damn nice cam. I ran one I know! Best Advice I can give you is buy you some new tires cause your gonna need them.

If you plan on keeping the 2800 stall I would go with the 224, It will get into the power way sooner than the Torquer 2

Given the same mods with the only difference being the cam your 226 will not walk a tr224 any day ever.

Given the choices the tr224 and the Patriot heads are the better option. The tr224 cam is a better choice and Patriots customer service is beyond belief. That is where my money would go on a budget build.
