Default Mobil 1 0w-40

i had my dad change my oil in the SS yesterday and when i got home he had gotten 0w-40 instead of 5w-30 "cuz they were all out". this isnt going to hurt anything is it?
Its fully synthetic and genuine m1 so i just dont wanna rip everything apart internally cuz of the wrong oil

M1 0W40 is better for our cars than M1 5w30 so if anything he should keep running it.

mobile oil's are on the thinner side. So 0w40 will be fine in you car. alot of people say 5w30 is almost to thin for ls1's..... Anyways the 5 or 0 is just the cold start up, so the 0 will be better in all weather conditions. id suggest staying with 0w40 instead of the 5w30. If you have some free time search the forums about oil, you will be amazed how much info is out there.

M1 0w40 is much thicker than their 5w30 version as said (which thins out to more of a 5w20 pretty fast according to some of the more knowledgeable guys on the www.bobistheoilguy.com website). Royal Purple 5w30 runs pretty thin too according to many. I know that when I ran the GC 0w30 (more of a true 40) as apposed to the M1 5w30 in my old '95 LT1 Z28, the GC held much better oil pressure at warm idles or after extended hard driving. Not saying I'm 100% right, but I too will only put the M1 0w40 or GC 0w30 into my LS1...

Mike
