Just installed a Z06 cam in my 02 SS!!
I just had JJ at LS1Solutions in Tx install my Z06 cam which he supplied the cam, springs, gaskets and installation at my house for $550 !! I dynoed the day before with the mods listed below and had 355 RWHP and dynoed it again today after the cam install and gained 30 RWHP!! So I am now sitting with a few bolt ons, not even headers and now have 385 RWHP!!
If anyone needs his contact info, he is on LS1.com as a regional sponser as LS1Solutions.
Dyno Results
Thanks,
Jason

That can't be SAE corrected. I've never heard of a near stock car with your limited bolt-ons throwing down 355 rwhp and 367 rwtq... maybe after a cam with no heads/headers.
I have a 2000 SS with a lid/exhaust/ends and put down 331/338. Thats pretty high with my few mods. My buddy has a 99Z with your same mods including an LS6 intake minus the TB and he put down 336/347. That must be one hell of a TB for 20rwhp and 20rwtq!

I saw his dyno graph before cam install and he has a freak, putting down 355 RWHP. His only mods are borla catback, asp pulley, partially ported TB, clear lid, HPP3 and gutted cats and now 02 LS6 cam. He has a freak.

Jason, Best of luck with your new cam. I too was considering the Z06 cam for my 68' project car. However, I believe the valves for the Z06 package are substantially lighter than those on the F-Bodies. Less valve mass accommodates higher ramp speeds and a smaller base circle in the Z06.I was concerned about the difference in reciprocating mass between the two types of heads. Glenn

How can you check to see if they are corrected? Colvin Automotive gave me these numbers on my Dyno sheet and were very surprised!! At those numbers it is SAE corrected (RWHP=384.94). I have the dyno viewer on my computer and if I mess with the correction for DIN (RWHP=390.69); EEC (RWHP=385.10); STD (RWHP=403.04) and Uncorrected (RWHP=376.58)

My friend Dyno'ed 34X with free mods, MAF, Lid, Yank 3K, Magna Catback, no headers, no tuning, no cam, in a 02 SS. Another about the same with nearly same mods. Makes me wanna swap my 2000 for a 02!

Re: Just installed a Z06 cam in my 02 SS!!
Colvin automotive is a rock solid place to get dyno'd, and they'll almost always give SAE results. The highest heads/cam car I've ever seen dyno'd there is 424rwhp (2002 Z06 from MTI) so their numbers are not insane.
Maybe the dyno graph has a spike at the end? I'd like to see it for sure.

Does seem high, but the '02 has the LS6 intake and now the cam is matched to it and he has a few mods.
Interesting that there is no real gain until 5000 rpm. To get the most from the cam it looks like you need to shift up at 6500.

Nice numbers. You may consider taking it to another Dyno to verify your results.
I Dyno'd 351hp and 372tq with the mods in my sig.

Venkman can vouch for the ability of nearly stock LS1's to dyno that! I agree that some LS1's are faster than others... After all, my 02 SS out of hte factory showroom floor wiht 500 miles went 14.0@99 mph.

Re: Just installed a Z06 cam in my 02 SS!!
Damn I must have had a real freak beacuse my o2' in stock form went 13.80@105mph stock with 250miles on it,then a week later went 13.60@106,then a few more weeks I ran a 13.40@107 with a a4 with 3:23's.The best stock time I got was a 13.20@107 with a 2.0 60ft on stock radials.
Now with 3:73's and a lid and free mods it has went 12.60@110.So what kind of power do you people think I was puttin out?So I guess I have a freak also?
this car still has cats on it and the stock exhaust also except for muffler, look at my sig on the bottle imagine if i had headers a cam and converter.
