First thing that came to mind was the dowel out of the front of the cam... Been a while since I held the drain plug in my hand so I am having trouble gauging the diameter of the piece. If it is as big as it looks in the pic that is the only thing I can think of, if it is smaller perhaps a roller pin if you have rockers with roller tips, or maybe even a a pin from the timing chain, although from the pic it appears to long to be that. Just for the hell of it, did you loctite the cam gear to cam bolts if you have changed the cam?

I just read your other thread and see that you changed the cam a few weeks ago, I am really thinking that might be the dowel out of the front of the cam. Perhaps the bolts came loose and the gear came off of the cam which is why it died and now it is wedged in the front cover locking up the motor. I'd pull the front cover and see what you have.

What lifters you running?? I know my LS7 lifters didn't have pins that big in them. Thats a decent size pin piece man. It definetly looks like a dowl pin from something. Never have I seen a piece of lifter break off & look that smooth after makin it past the cam & down into the pan.
And if it is the cam dowl, it could have fell right down the front of the motor, past the oil pump & right into the pan. If it was a lifter piece you would definetly know. I'd pull the cam. If its scared up on the lobes, then it was lifter related. If not you should notice the missing cam dowl when you pull the timing cover.

Received a Comp Cam last week with no dowel. So the question is, did they ever install it or did it fall out prior to going in the box. Needless to say, their quality control is questionable. They may not be putting the correct interference fit on the hole in the cam.
