Default Cam Pics - Opinions Wanted.

Check out these pics. It is a G5X2. It has about 10k miles on it.

Would this cam be reusable?

Looks like some of the lobes have spalling wear on them, I'd use it for a paperweight, but not as a cam in my engine

I say you make a cam chucking device and see how many peices of plywood you can shoot it through or sheetrock, something fun to watch on fquick vid

Don't look good, looks like motor had some lifter problems or oil starvation.

Looks like a lifter was coming apart / failing on a few of those lobes.

I've seen that issue on a few g5x cams where the next cam they put in was fine....

but I would get a new cam. I'm taking an ms3 out of my car soon if you want it.

That was my G5X2 cam with less than 10K miles and never seen 4000 RPM's ... I told Eddie that it is not usable but he wanted to post up to see what the cause.
I really don't wanna post this because it may stir up with Lou at LG.
I was one of the very first person to get on the first batch of G5X-2 cam. I got the cam installed at GM dealer during they did the re-rings.
Everything was stock except springs and push rods those came with the G5X-2 pkg.
The valve train noise level just keep getting louder and louder but I thought it is just because of the cam and springs.
To a point, I started investing to after market rockers since people said those would quiet down the noise. I got the Crank rockers on for a month and still got the same noise and started hearing those Crank rockers may fail so I took them off the put the stock lifters back on.
About 2 yearrs ago, I upgraded stock heads to 5.3 stage 2 with Patriot gold springs. When removing the stock heads, I found 3 or 4 stock lifters got eaten up. I then replaced those with new good ones but did not know the cam actually eaten up the lifters or vice versa ...
After I put in the new lifters, the valve train even more noisy than it was before. I thought because of the new valve springs which rated to 6.5 lift.
Recently, I added supercharger and swapped out the cam to notice those damages ...
So for those with big cam and noisy valve train, watch out

I had a cam that looked similar in my engine. The cam had killed my lifters. When I replaced my lifters the cam looked just like that. Since the car was a daily driver I had to button it back up again with only 4 new lifters. Within 3K miles the new lifters were all chewed up again and I had to pull the heads. Since I had been planning it ahead of time, I already had a new cam lined up and ready to go in.

Dont use that cam.
